Introduction
This is the most diverse order of all tardigrades and is considered paraphyletic following molecular evidence that the order Echiniscoidea evolved from Arthrotardigrada. The presence of the median cirrus is diagnostic; cirri E has a sensory structure, and usually the legs are truly segmented or may be telescoped. All arthrotardigrades found in Australia are marine.
Notes
While there are no described species of Anisonyches Pollock, 1975 (Anisonychidae) in Australia, an undiagnosed specimen was found at North Stradbroke Island, Queensland.
