Ecological Descriptors

Adult: volant.

Larva: aquatic.

Extra Ecological Information

Adult caught in UV light and dry-ice-baited traps, does not usually bite humans, larva and pupa found in permanent swamps, stock dams, forest dams and pools with aquatic vegetation, often associated with the surface vegetation Myriophyllum (milfoil) [Haloragaceae].
