Poole (1989) notes this and explains his reasons. In this case, as in many others, almost all species occur also outside Australia and a careful evaluation of the generic assignment of each species is beyond the scope of [Edwards 1996] so Poole has been followed here. If Polypogon Schrank was divided in accord with established use prior to Poole (1989) then Zanclognatha fractalis (Guenée, 1854) would be the combination for the species. Both Polypogon Schrank and Herminia Latreille were described in 1802. Following Poole (1989) Polypogon Schrank [was] given priority but actual dates for the two publications [had] not been seen)
