Genus Acentronura Kaup, 1853

Introduction

Dawson (1984) treated various subgenera of Acentronura. Subsequently Kuiter (2000) separated Idiotropiscis as a separate genus. Some workers have not followed that separation (Stewart 2015).

Miscellaneous Literature Names

Introduction

Acentronura tentaculata had long been applied to this species in Australia. Kuiter (2000) regarded A. tentaculata as a Red Sea endemic, with A. breviperula the correct name for the Australian species and we follow that work here.
