Genus Chorismagrion Morton, 1914

Introduction

Although previously recognised as a distinct family, the Chorismagrionidae (including only the monotypic Chorismagrion), in which the discoidal cell of the forewing is open at the base and there are no supplementary intercalary longitudinal veins, following (Bechly 1996), we are now regarding it as a member of the Synlestidae. This follows Dijkstra et al. (2014) who state "the monotypic Chorismagrionidae Tillyard & Fraser, 1938 is probably included [in Synlestidae]" citing Bybee et al. (2008) and Dumont et al. (2010).

The sole species in Chorismagrion occurs in north Queensland and the larvae are found under cobble-sized rocks and in leaf-packs in slow-flowing areas of open canopy rainforest streams (Theischinger et al. 1993). Fraser (1956) and Theischinger et al. (1993) have described the larvae of Chorismagrion risi.
