Ecological Descriptors

Adult: pest, volant.

Larva: tree hole.

Extra Ecological Information

Adult bites humans, sheep and marsupials; minor pest if breeding near a house; larva collected from tree holes in kurrajong tree (Brachychiton diversifolius R.Br. [Sterculiaceae]) and river oaks (Casuarina cunninghamiana Miq. [Casuarinaceae]) which contain a thick liquid made of organic matter like rotting wood and longicorn beetle frass.
