Adults: continental shelf, intertidal, subtidal.

 

Notes

Some authors list this as Callipallene brevirostris novazealandiae, others drop the brevirostris part. Thjere is no general agreement on this matter in the literature.

There may be several different species contained in the literature under the subspecies name Callipallene novazealandiae novazealandiae since it has a widely scattered distribution (New Zealand, Tasman Sea, South Australia to Madagascar) and has been collected at depths ranging from less than one m to 91 m.
