Larva: aquatic.

Extra Ecological Information

Adult a common daytime pest in areas close to mangrove and tea-tree/paperbark swamps; adult readily attacks humans, cattle, horses and other animals; adults collected in light traps; isolation of Ross River and Maprik viruses from collections; potential vector of arboviruses; larval found in ground pools of slightly brackish to freshwater, usually in swampy areas (tea-tree, mangrove and paperbark) and sedges adjoining tidal areas, ponds, puddles, borrow pits and temporary water collections; for extensive biological information see Lee et al.
