Family EUTEGAEIDAE Balogh, 1965

Introduction

The family Eutegaeidae includes 10 genera and 32 species world-wide (Schatz et al. 2011). The family placement of some of the genera has been unstable (Norton & Behan-Pelletier 2009). The Australian Eutegeidae are poorly known, with only one known species in each of five genera. The most important contribution to this fauna was by Balogh & Balogh (1983a, 1983b), who described three of the five known species, from rainforest litter in New South Wales. Unidentified species have been recorded from Australia a number of times as listed for each genus, and unidentified Eutegeidae were also reported by Malipatil & Blyth (1982) and Perdomo et al. (2012).
