Adult: pest, volant.

Larva: aquatic.

Extra Ecological Information

A common day-biting species and readily attacks humans; adult females caught in malaise and light traps; considered a serious pest in New Guinea; isolation of Eubenangee and ephemeral fever viruses from collections; larva found in shaded jungle pools, ground pools in sago swamps, jungle and forest, swamps in virgin forest and temporary ground pools with decaying vegetation on the bottom.
