Species Heterolepisma sclerophylla Smith, 2013

Introduction

Following collection of further specimens and molecular analysis Smith et al. (2019) were able to show that H. sclerophylla appears to be a species complex with several cryptic species. Two of these were described as new species, H. cooloola from SE Queensland, and H. coorongooba from NW of Sydney, NSW. They recognised an additional five lineages within NSW material but were unable to identify morphological and morphometric differences and declined to describe them as new species.
