Introduction

Author G. Malcolm (pers comm. 2013) notes that "D. australis appears to have 3 phases of growth: protoconch, juvenile whorls and mature whorls. Some specimens retain the juvenile whorl structure (straighter, well spaced ribs) into the adult phase. These cohabit with the typical specimens. This led to reports on D. evoluta in Australia by Burch (1965) and by Wilson (1994)". See General References below..
