Diagnosis

Carapace subrhomboidal in lateral view, the height generally equals more than half length. Dorsal margin straight. Posterior end always with clear caudal process which always situated above middle. One subcentral sulcus present on valves. Each valve with 2 closely set ventral longitudinal ridges. Inner lamella moderately wide, line of concrescence and inner margin coincide throughout in most species. Marginal pore canals sparse, widely spaced, simple. Hinge amphidont-schizodont. Normal pores few, small, scattered and open.
