Subspecies Sternula nereis nereis (Gould, 1843)

 

Introduction

Sterna nereis horni Mathews, 1912 is sometimes treated as a valid subspecies (e.g. del Hoyo & Collar, 2014). We retain S. n. horni as a subspecies of S. n. nereis until further work can resolve the issue conclusively.
