Ecological Descriptors

Adult: volant.

Larva: aquatic.

Extra Ecological Information

Adult female bites humans and feed on rabbits, dogs, marsupials, cats, cattle, horses, birds, reptiles and mammals in general; adults collected in light traps and chicken-baited traps; isolation of one strain of Sindbis virus from mosquitoes collected at Lake Bullawarra, QLD; larva found in association with mats of Spirogyra or similar filamentous algae along stream margins, stream pools, taro (Alocasia sp. [Araceae]) canals, pits, creeks, rice fields and semi-permanent, rocky stream-fed ground pools.
