Adult: volant.

Larva: aquatic.

Extra Ecological Information

Adult feeds on humans, chickens, dogs, kangaroos and fowl; adults collected in animal-baited traps; larva found in permanent and semi-permanent water collections with dense clusters of green filamentous algae and a mangrove-fringed saline swamp sheltering in green, slimy aquatic vegetation; larvae collected from shallow pools, streams and creeks associated with filamentous algae.
