Introduction
Baehr (2015) reports of a specimen found in ANIC from Carnot Bay labelled “paratype” by Darlington that also Moore et al. (1987) apparently regarded as a specimen of the type series of C. cylindripennis. It is labelled: “Carnot Bay C.F. / very near C. atridorsis Sl / PARATYPE ? of cylindripennis Sl. PJD”. However, comparison with the description (Sloane 1905a: 729) clearly demonstrates that it cannot belong to this species, because it has the 4th stria combined with the 5th, the punctation of the striae is not as coarse, the elytra are not cylindric, and the median part of the clypeus is slightly produced. Moreover, the specimen bears a notice written by Sloane “very near C. atridorsis Sl” which denomination indeed is correct. Thus, apparently, the type(s) of C. cylindripennis are lost and the above specimen belongs to the not related species C. atridorsis Sloane. Because it is impossible to allude any other species unambiguously to the description of C. cylindripennis, this species for the present is being regarded a nomen dubium.
