Genus Toxorhynchites Theobald, 1901

Introduction

None of the species in this genus are capable of sucking blood, and therefore do not transmit disease. Male and female adults feed mainly on nectar and other plant exudates, larvae are predacious on other mosquito larvae, and cannibalistic.
