Adult: volant.

Larva: aquatic.

Extra Ecological Information

Adult females collected biting humans during the day in rainforest close to breeding sites; larva commonly found in water lying in fallen palm fronds in dense shade in rainforest or palm groves, rusty tins, fallen leaves, tops of funnel-shaped fungi (Trametes versicolor L.), in fallen seed (`bean') pods, old snail shells, hollow segments of cut bamboo and flower spathes.
