Described as a probable new species by I.Walters, Orchadian 3(12): 159-161 (1971) from a plant reportedly collected from the Daintree River area in Queensland. However, M.A.Clements, Austral. Orchid Name Index, Key Austral. Orchid Genera CD-ROM (2006) indicates this material represents Eria braddonii, a Malaysian taxon, and that the Queensland record is erroneous.
