- R.Sweet's <i> Callistemon glaucus </i> is based on <i> Metrosideros glauca </i> Bonpl., an illegitimate later homonym (non Dum.-Cours. (1814). Accordingly, authorship is therefore attributed to Sweet alone (ICBN, Art. 58 (2006)). The same applies to other combinations based on Bonpland's name. If placed in <i>Melaleuca</i>, the name of this taxon is <i> Melaleuca paludosa </i> R.Br. A proposal to reject the name <i> Melaleuca paludosa </i> R.Br., in order to avoid confusion with <i> Melaleuca paludicola </i> Craven and to preserve the long-associated usage of the epithet 'glauca' with the taxon from WA, has been made by L.A.Craven & A.E.Orchard, <i> Taxon </i> 56: 1301-1302 (2007).
