The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. Etymology:"It is named after Mr. A. Paddison of New Angledool, its discoverer, who has devoted much time to studying the flora of that arid part of Australia, and who has been instrumental in bringing other botanical novelties to light."
