The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. Etymology:"Named for Fred Hort (retired Primary School Principal, 1937–) and his wife Jean (1952–), botanical enthusiasts, who have searched for and collected many rare plants in south-west Australia, especially in the eastern jarrah forest, and made most of the earliest collections of this species after having recognised it as a species distinct from P. nigrita."
Etymology:"This orchid is named for Fred and Jean Hort who, along with Gary Brockman, were the first to recognised [sic] it as being a new species in 1996."
Etymology:"Named in honour of Fred and Jean Hort who made many of the early collections of this species after recognising it as distinct from the Flying Duck Orchid (Parcaleana nigrita)."
