Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Type:"Mount Wellington, Gunn; Mount Sorrel, Milligan; Mount Lapeyrouse, Oldfield."
Comment:L.Rodway, Tasman. Fl. 93 (1903) lists "var. pleiocephalus" under his treatment of S. pectinatus. R.O.Belcher, Muelleria 9: 127 (1996) treated this as a new name, but it is here regarded as a secondary reference to Senecio pectinatus var. pleiocephalus Benth.
Type:"In the typification statement for Senecio leptocarpus Belcher (1996: 122) states “… ISOTYPI seen: K ex Herb. Hook., ‘Mt Wellington’ [type of var. pleiocephalus Benth.]; …” This is here treated as effective lectotypification of the name Senecio pectinatus var . pleiocephalus by Belcher in accordance with ICN Art. 7.11 (Shenzhen Code, Turland & al., 2018). As Belcher ’s citation meets the relevant requirements of ICN Art. 7.11, his use of the term “isotypi” is correctable under ICN Art. 9.10."
