• APC Comment: The type locality for this species was erroneously given as 'Capite van Diemen' by J.J.H. de Labillardiere, Nov. Holl. Pl. Spec. 2: 9 (1806). This error was further compounded by G.Bentham, Fl. Austral. 3: 117 (1866), who placed this taxon in synonymy of Kunzea sericea Turcz. J.Thompson, Telopea 3: 361 (1990) erroneously placed Kunzea sericea (as "Kunzea sericea (Labill.) Turcz.") in synonymy of Leptospermum sericeum. See C.A.Gardner, J. Roy. Soc. W. Australia 47: 61 (1964) for a discussion of the correct application of these names.
