A reputed hybrid E. goniocalyx x E. mannifera is the basis of E. westonii Maiden & Blakely (Pryor & Johnson, 1971; Chippendale, 1988). Hybrids between E. cypellocarpa and E. goniocalyx are known in Vic (= E. sp. aff. goniocalyx (Dandenong Ranges)). Euclid (2006) includes Eucalyptus semiglobosa in this species as a subspecies.
