Treated as Desmazeria rigida in WA and NSW. Authorship of the combination "Catapodium rigidum" in J.G.Dony, Fl. Bedfordshire 437 (1953), is attributed to C.E.Hubbard alone. Dony (p. 425) states "I have received considerable assistance from C.E.Hubbard with the grasses.", and cites the name as "Catapodium rigidum (L.) C.E.Hubbard", with a footnote listing the basionym and indicating the name is new combination.
