The Australian Plant Census (APC) is a list of the accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, ferns, gymnosperms, hornworts and liverworts, both native and introduced, and includes synonyms and misapplications for these names. The APC covers all published scientific plant names used in an Australian context in the taxonomic literature, but excludes taxa known only from cultivation in Australia. The taxonomy and nomenclature adopted for the APC are endorsed by the Council of Heads of Australasian Herbaria (CHAH).

Morphological and genetic variation in the Senecio pinnatifolius complex is described by I.J.Radford et al., Australian Syst. Bot. 17(1): 29-48 (2004). A study of the Senecio pinnatifolius/lautus complex is provided by I.R.Thompson, Muelleria 21: 23-76 (2005). A possible hybrid between Senecio pinnatifolius s. lat. and Senecio glossathus has been recorded from SA (I.R.Thompson, Muelleria 21: 7, 2005). Hybrids between Senecio pinnatifolius and Senecio elegans have been recorded from Victoria (N.G.Walsh in N.G.Walsh & T.J.Entwisle (eds), Fl. Victoria 4: 949, 1999). -
