Family MICROGYNIIDAE Trägårdh, 1942

Introduction

The family Microgyniidae includes two genera and three described species, all of which occur in rotting wood and leaf litter in Europe and North America (Lindquist et al. 2009). Walter & Krantz (1999) discussed the phylogenetic position of the family, and provided a key to the genera and species. The family is known from Australia only from a record of an undescribed genus from Tasmania (Lindquist et al. 2009).

Family NOTHOGYNIDAE Walter & Krantz, 1999

Introduction

Nothogynidae is an endemic Australian family. Two species of Nothogynus have been described from treeholes, soil and litter in Queensland rainforests (Walter & Krantz 1999), and a third undescribed species has been reported from Lord Howe Island (Lindquist et al. 2009). They are reported to feed on nematodes, and possibly other small invertebrates.
