Introduction

We retain the species here, although some material has possibly been misidentified. The species was described from just north of Australia and would be expected to be in Australia. Larson et al (2013) suggested that records of Lepidotrigla punctipectoralis from Australia may have been been based on L. spiloptera.

Northwest Shelf, WA and Arafura Sea, NT; tropical, Indo-west Pacific; Australian material possibly belongs to an undescribed species. The species was described from less than 400 km north of Australia, tropical, west Pacific
