Subgenus Zoraida (Zoraida) Kirkaldy, 1900

Compiler and date details

21 January 2011 - Murray J. Fletcher

Introduction

This subgenus is one of three created by Muir (1918) when he split the genus Zoraida and all the known Australian species were placed into the nominate subgenus. He further divided this subgenus into two species groups based on the length of the hindwing relative to the length of the tegmen. Both groups are represented in Australia with most of our species in the first group defined by having the hindwing one-third to one-half the length of the tegmen while Z. picta Distant is in the second group, defined by having the hindwing one-seventh to one-tenth the length of the tegmen.
