Melbourne : CSIRO Publishing, Australia xii 551 pp. [427] (P. femoristriga has been commonly reported from Australia as a subspecies of P. longipes, but as Chan & Ng (2001) have shown, the Australian records that have been confirmed, belong to P. longipes bispinosus. However, the distributional ranges of these two taxa are still uncertain, and it seems likely from the present records that true P. femoristriga will be found on the reefs of northern Australia, now that the distinguishing characters have been clearly defined. Therefore I am provisionally continuing to include this species in the Australian fauna)
