A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 1: 171 (1991) lists Althenia cylindrocarpa (Koern.) Asch. as "nom. illeg. non F.Muell. (1887-88)". This seems to be an incorrect reference to Key Syst. Vict. Pl. 1: 443 (1888) where Mueller validly made the combination Althenia preissii. There is no mention in this work of a combination ?Althenia cylindrocarpa?. The Ascherson combination is legitimate.
