The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.

APC Comment: D.P.Little, Syst. Bot. 33: 461-480 (2006) argues for the transfer of New World Cupressus into the genus Callitropsis Oerst. However, A.Farjon (pers. comm. 2007) disagrees with this interpretation. A proposal to reject Callitropsis in favour of Xanthocyparis Farjon & T.H.NgyuĂȘn is also under consideration. Accordingly, a conservative approach has been adopted for the purposes of this exercise. -
