Etymology:
"The generic name is derived from Gk. aktites , a coast dweller."
The sole included species name was given as "Actites megalocarpa " by the original author, indicating feminine gender for the genus. It is nonetheless here treated as masculine under ICN Art. 62.4 (Shenzhen Code, 2018).
