The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. APC Comment:The first publication date (and thus the authorship) of the name Eryngium expansum is uncertain, as the publication by F.J.H. von Mueller, Pap. & Proc. Roy. Soc. Tasmania 3(2): 236 (1859) is not dated.
