  • Etymology: "Thomas Livingstone Mitchell, Surveyor-General of NSW, explored central Queensland from November 1845 to January 1847 and named the 'Victoria' river after Queen Victoria. George Bentham named this species after the river where it was found by Mitchell in 1846. The river has since been renamed the Barcoo."
