Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
×
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.

APC Comment:
Note that Kuntze created two different var. breviappendiculata names, one under his subsp. normalis , the other under subsp. pubescens . Under ICBN (Vienna Code (2006)) Articles 53.4 and 53.6 (incl. Note 3) only one of these names can be accepted, the other being a nom. rej. (but remaining legitimate). N.G.Walsh, Fl. Australia 2: 304 (2007) chose the combination under subsp. normalis , rejecting that under subsp. pubescens . A similar situation and solution applies to var. longiappendiculata. Clematis aristata var. longiseta is recognised as a distinct taxon in Qld.
