"In tractu steriliore trans rivum Wills Creek, lat. 25°30′, legerunt Howitt et Murray."
Etymology:
"...e longinquo Pini vel Casuarina imaginem exhibens..." ["...from a distance it presents the likeness of a pine or casuarina...". The epithet is derived from the Greek word peuke , for pine tree, in reference to the superficial resemblance of this Acacia to a conifer.]
