Etymology: "Dr. Berneys [sic; Bernays], no doubt, highly deserved the compliment paid to him..." -
Comment: Reichenbach cites the name as "Phajus berneysii, Rowl." and indicates that the epithet had been supplied by "Dr. Rowland". However, a subsequent paper by L.A.Bernays, Gard. Chron. 30: 1244 (1873), clarifies that the name was actually coined by F.J.H. von Mueller prior to material being relayed to the Veitch Nurseries by Rowland. Since Reichenbach was apparently mistaken as to the origin of the name and citing the authorship as ascribed is not mandated under ICN Art. 46.5 (Shenzhen Code, 2018), Rowland is not credited here.
