Vascular Plants
Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Lectotype:"Plant cultivated at Kew Gardens from seed sent by J.C. Bidwell from the Wide Bay District, Queensland (lectotype K, designated here, isolectotype K, photos BRI)."
APC Comment:The names "Brachychiton paradoxus var. bidwilli (Hook.) A.Terrac." and "Brachychiton paradoxus var. pubescens (C.Moore) A.Terrac." are listed by A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 456 (1991), but Terraciano’s infraspecific taxa are here interpreted as subspecies, following G.P.Guymer, Austral. Syst. Bot. 1: 266 (1989).
