APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. Comment: Gardner does not refer directly to a basionym but includes Macrozamia fraseri Miq. in synonymy. In the preface (p. ii) Gardner states that the synonyms in brackets refer to the name as used in Bentham's Flora Australiensis. Bentham, Fl. Austral. 6: 252 includes Cycas riedlei as a synonym of M. fraseri Miq. Thus Gardner's combination is by indirect reference to the basionym.
