Vascular Plants
Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Comment:A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 2396 (1991), lists "Prasophyllum ovale var. triglochin R.Rogers" as a nom. illeg., non Rchb.f. (1871). While Rogers does not cite an author for the varietal name, other nomenclatural novelties published in the same paper are clearly indicated (e.g. by the notation "n. sp." or "n. comb."). This is here treated as a secondary reference rather than an attempt by Rogers to publish a new name.
