The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Showing Senecio lautus var. macrocephalus
Type: "Throughout the Islands, very abundant, especially on maritime rocks, Banks and Solander, Forster, etc."
APC Comment: A New Zealand taxon, now referred to Senecio sterquilinus Ornduff, recorded for Australia by A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 2631 (1991), on the basis of J.D.Hooker's Fl. Nov.-Zel. 1(2) 145 (1852) treatment of the species. However, Hooker does not record the varietal taxon from Australia, only the species in the broad sense.
