De Candolle cites "DC. rev. in bibl. univ. oct. 1838 sine descr." [i.e. A.P. de Candolle, Biblioth. Universelle Geneve 17: 124 (1838)]. However, while de Candolle indicates that Bignonia filiformis (itself a nom. inval., nom. nud.) should be placed in Stereospermum he does not definitely associate the genus name and specific epithet as required under ICN Art. 35.2 (Melbourne Code, 2012).
