nom. inval., as there is no indication of the presumed basionym and no reference is given to its place of valid publication as required by ICN Art. 41.5 (Melbourne Code, 2012). Kenneally et al. cite the authorship as "(Tate) Puttock", presumably indicating that the subspecific name was to be based on Gardenia keartlandii Tate but the combination was not validly made.
