A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 857 (1991), treats the name Cyathochaeta australis as invalid "as Gardner does not refer to the basionym". However, Gardner lists "C. australis (Steud.) Gardner n. comb." and this is here considered an indirect reference to the basionym under ICBN Art. 33.2 (2006).
