APC Comment:
A widespread taxon recorded as a "naturalized alien ... widely spread in Victoria" by A.J.Ewart Vict. Naturalist 24: 192 (1908), but does not appear to have persisted as a naturalised plant in Australia. Also recorded as cultivated by J.W.Vickery, Contr. New South Wales Natl. Herb. 4: 242 (1970).

Type:
"Grown experimentally at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney, but does not appear to have become naturalised." (fide J.W.Vickery, Contr. New South Wales Natl. Herb. 4: 242, 1970). Although claimed by A.J.Ewart (Vict. Naturalist 24: 192, 1908) to be "widely spread in Victoria", MEL has only cultivated specimens from Goulburn (1902) and Noojee (1927) and there are no other reports indicating that the species is naturalised in Australia."
