  • Type: "Australia, North Queensland, by airstrip, 5 miles w.n.w. of Cooktown, savanna, 10 ft. alt., Feb. 1, 1958, H. St. John 26,251 (BISH)."
  • Etymology: "The species is named for the type locality, which is within a few miles of the Endeavour River, a name reminiscent of the ship commanded by Captain James Cook on his first world voyage."
