  • Text: "Diplachne R. Brown ex Desfontaines, Mem. Mus. Paris 5: 272. 1819. Conservation is unnecessary because, 1) Diplachne R. Brown was not published independently, but was listed by Desfontaines as a synonym of Chamelaucium and, 2) Diplachne R. Brown is a later homonym of Diplachne Palisot de Beauvois, Agrost. 80. t.16. 1812, a genus of grasses. Diplachne R. Brown is untenable because it was never properly published and was in addition a later homonym; Verticordia Decandolle, the next oldest available name, is properly taken up without the necessity for conservation."
